The week where my beloved Reds take on Malaysia's XI. Have to be said that among the traditional top four of BPL, Liverpool have never been here. They've been to Singapore, Thailand but they never made that stop...until last week.
You can imagine the crowd it attracts bila you have one of the most supported team on the planet coing to town, what kind of frenzy that will happen. No doubt, they were missing a few top players and also the King itself balik lepas training due to nak sambut player baru, but still the crowd was...wow 80,000++ filling the stadium. It was like a carnival. Tua, muda, melayu, cina, india, singh, mat salleh semua ada. Ada pakai baju Malaysia, pakai baju Liverpool, bawak scarf liverpool, scarf Malaysia. We were supporting both teams. A very colourful event.
The game itself was entertaining. 3-6 and our boys in blue gave a hell of a fight which was celebrated by ALL IN THE STADIUM. We are proud of them. We cheered for them. Heck, we cheered all 9 goals because we are malaysians, and yes we are also liverpool fans! You can see the replay on TV if we you doubt me on this.
Majority of us are Malaysians. You dont have to tell us to support the national team. We do that by choice, by what we see on the field. I'm not sure why some people, some key people say things like we must be patriotic and support the home team, tapi pada yg sama masa team lain datang ko jugak yg havoc, menjadikan stadium tu cam emirates, stanford bridge ataupun old trafford! Dan, ko support tak masa team sokongan korang tu di score oleh our National Squad? Did you? Try to remember back...kalau yer bagus lah (samalah kita kan), tapi kalau tak..then what the fish yg ko cakap org datang pakai baju liverpool tak patriotik? It's only a friendly kan? It was used as a training for both Malaysia and also Liverpool..so kenapa perlu keluar statement-statement camtuh?
We support liverpool and we also support the national team. Period.
Ni tak masuk lagi statement beberapa pihak pasal score atas semangat sapa, atau kopius nak celebrate kat mana. Come on mann... yg datang org Malaysia. Yang bersorak giler2 tuh pun orang Malaysia.
Jadi, janganlah jadikan ini alasan untuk hantam fans yg memang harapan nak support team di Liverpool amat tipis. So, they come to us. Kalau takmau jadi begini, then next time kalau team luar datang, mintak diorang lawan dgn Felda United ker, PKNS ker...takde kecoh. Seriouly, being question ones patriotism really feels like manure.
